Dr. Lewinski is the current president of TKS.  He is the president of the medical staff at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, medical director of the DaVita-Chesapeake Dialysis Center, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society and an assistant professor at EVMS.  He has been voted a Coastal Virginia Top Doc for the past 4 years.


Daniel Rakowski, M.D., FACP

A native of Philadelphia PA, Dr. Rakowski moved to Hampton Roads in 1999 to do his internship and residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at the National Capital Consortium (Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center) and returned to NMCP where he was twice named Teacher of the Year.

After joining TKS in 2008 he has remained active in teaching medical students and residents as a clinical faculty member at EVMS and is the Medical Director for the Great Bridge DaVita Dialysis Center. He is president elect of the medical staff at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Dr. Rakowski has specific clinical interests in treating glomerular disease, managing renal Transplant patients and treating complicated hypertension. In his spare time Dr. Rakowski enjoys running, playing jazz trumpet and raising two wonderful children. He has been voted a Coastal Virginia Top Doc for the past 3 years.


Liwei Elizabeth Huang M.D.

Dr. Huang completed her medical school education at the Sun Yat – Sen University Medical School. Her Internal Medicine Internship was completed at the New York Medical College and Residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN. Dr. Huang’s Nephrology Fellowship was at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Huang is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

In Dr. Huang’s clinical practice, she focuses on the overlap of diabetes and high blood pressure and concurrent kidney disease, end-stage renal disease and acute hospital nephrology care. She enjoys taking care of patients with Kidney disease and always hope to be able to improve the overall diagnostic and treatment of kidney disease. Dr. Huang believes good communication between the patient and physician is critical to excellent medical care and she always takes time to listen to her patients with respect and compassion.

In her spare time, Dr. Huang enjoys playing badminton, hiking and practicing yoga.


Dawn Bethea, NP

Dawn began her career as an EMT Paramedic in El Paso, Texas. Deciding to pursue a career in nursing, she entered a nursing program at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1992 and then completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After working for 12 years in the field of Neonatal Intensive Care Newborn Nursery and Pediatric Cardiology, she was accepted into the Nurse Practitioner program in Florida through the University of Central Florida. In 2010, she finished a Master’s of Science in Nursing with a focus on Family Practice. Immediately after graduating, she began her career in Nephrology which included rounding at dialysis clinics and hospital follow up care for patients with kidney disease. She moved to the Virginia area in 2017 and is now a part of Tidewater Kidney Specialists. In Dawn’s spare time she enjoys gardening, family time with her children and practicing the Bagpipes.

Abdul Chaudhry, MD, FACP

Dr. Chaudhry loves to interact with his patients; he spends ample time with patients to their satisfaction and is very compassionate in his care. He treats patients in all Sentara Hospitals, Chesapeake General Hospital and DePaul Medical Center. He is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School and teaches students and residents at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He has served as Medical Director of several area Dialysis units and a Nocturnal Dialysis program. He also runs Dialysis facilities at Lake Taylor Hospital. He likes to spend his time and travel with his wife and three daughters.

He is an active member of the Critical Care Committee at Sentara Leigh Hospital. He is the Medical Director and Administrator of the TIDEWATER VASCULAR ACCESS CENTER which was established in July 2012. It was built for the sole purpose of providing expeditious Vascular Care to Dialysis patients.


Nancy Allison, MD, FACP

Dr. Allison completed her medical school education at the Medical College of Ohio. Her Internship and Residency were completed at the University of Pennsylvania – Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Allison’s Nephrology Fellowship was at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA under the tutelage of Robert Narins, MD, who is an internationally recognized leader in Nephrology education.

Dr. Allison is the Medical Director of the Virginia Beach DaVita Dialysis Center and is on the Physician Advisory Group for Sentara’s EHR system. In her free time she enjoys being with her family, traveling with friends, reading, exercising, and practicing yoga.


Wei David Zhao, M.D.

Dr. Zhao earned his medical degree from Shanghai Second Military Medical University in 1985. He completed his internship and residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA in 2000. He received his Nephrology Fellowship from Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham Women’s Hospital Joint Program in Boston, MA in 2002. Dr. Zhao is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Zhao is a nephrologist who has special interests in diagnosis and management of glomerular diseases (such as lupus nephritis, membranous nephropathy, FSGS), hypertension, electrolyte and acid-base disorders. He is the Medical Director of the Leigh DaVita Dialysis Center. Dr. Zhao is dedicated to his patients and is looking forwarding to a long-term relationship with his patients.

Yury Kalmanovich, MD, FASN, FACP

Dr. Kalmanovich is actively involved in the Sentara Transplant Program. He is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, and the Medical Director of DaVita Midtowne Dialysis Center.

Dr. Kalmanovich is the current Secretary/Treasurer of TKS. He has special clinical interests in kidney diseases in patients with heart problems and diabetes and Transplant Nephrology. In his limited leisure time, he enjoys watching movies, reading, and exercising on the treadmill. Voted Top Doc in 2015 by Coastal Virginia Magazine.


Kiranjit K. Dhillon, M.D.

Dr. Dhillon received her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary and Master’s degree in Public Health from the Medical College of Virginia. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School where she went on to do her internship and residency training. She completed her subspecialty training in Nephrology from the Medical College of Virginia. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Sadr graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Biology. He completed his medical school education and residency in Internal Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He finished a fellowship in Nephrology at Maine Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Sadr is actively involved with the Sentara Kidney Transplant Program. He enjoys his role as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Internal Medicine teaching residents and students. He has won the William Osler award for teaching and he is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. Voted Top Doc in 2015 by Coastal Virginia Magazine.


Onweli Ogbolu, M.D.

Dr. Anjum completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He has interests in all aspects of nephrology and enjoys getting to know his patients and their families and educating them on their conditions and treatments. He lives in Virginia Beach with his wife and son. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, listening to music and watching TV & movies. Dr. Anjum works out of the Norfolk office and is accepting new patients.


Martha V. Versprille, PA-C

Martha earned her National Paramedic Certification from Tidewater Community College and obtained her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in Exercise Science. In 2004, she graduated from the Inter-service Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio TX with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska. She has been in practice as a Nephrology Physician Assistant with Tidewater Kidney Specialists since 2005.

Martha brings her experience as an emergency medical provider and US Army Reservists to our practice. She specializes in clinical research, chronic kidney disease management and end-stage renal disease management. Martha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and gardening.

She worked as a Hospitalist for 7 years and decided to go to Nephrology fellowship in 2015 to 2017 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Lusica currently works out of the Virginia Beach office and is accepting new patients.

Dr. Lusica is married and resides with her husband and two children in Virginia Beach. In her leisure time, she enjoys going to the gym, gardening and baking.


Angela Garcia, NP-C

Angela began her career in Nursing as an intensive care nurse, followed by six years of dialysis nursing. In her six years she worked as a chronic dialysis nurse, acute care dialysis nurse, clinical nurse coordinator, assistant facility administrator, and lastly a home dialysis nurse. Her wealth of knowledge and interest in Nephrology led her to pursue her Master’s degree with a goal of working as a Nephrology Nurse Practitioner. Angela has fulfilled this goal and started with Tidewater Kidney Specialists in the fall of 2013. In Angela’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She also enjoys reading and traveling.

Madhu Kolli, MD

Dr. Kolli grew up in the western suburbs of Cleveland. He graduated with a BA from Oberlin College. He received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He then went to Brown University for his internship and residency. He then completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Kolli is the current Vice President of TKS and the Medical Director of the Camelot DaVita Dialysis Center. Dr. Kolli has been practicing in the Hampton Roads area with Tidewater Kidney Specialists since November 2002. He has privileges at all of the south side hospitals. Dr. Kolli is married and resides with his wife and two children in Virginia Beach. He enjoys running, bicycling and photography in his free time.


Anitha Murthy, M.D.

Dr. Whelan, along with Dr. Michael R. Higgins (deceased) and Dr. Betty Yeh, helped establish Tidewater Kidney Specialists as a highly respected nephrology practice. He came to this area after finishing his scholarship program with the U.S. Navy, where his last duty station was as the Chief of Nephrology at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Dr. Whelan has received a number of teaching and community faculty awards through his involvement with EVMS. He has also worked at Hampton VAMC with their nephrology and internal medicine programs. He has previously held positions on the medical staff of a number of hospitals in the area and served as a Medical Director of many dialysis centers. He has interests in all aspects of nephrology, especially dialysis, stone disease, acid-base and electrolyte derangements. When not working, his primary interest remains with continuing medical education studies. He and his wife now call Norfolk their home and spend time visiting their daughter and a new grandson in Boston.
